This Self Esteem Activity Gets You To Realise That You Are Already A Success.

List Your Wins In Life

self esteem activity

What I really like about the "List Your Wins in Life" self esteem activity is that it immediately helps you to start to feel good about yourself.

Sometimes the reason we suffer from low self esteem is because we look down at ourselves and think that we haven't achieved much with our lives, it always seems like everyone else is doing great and making progress with their life apart from you, and we tend to feel like this in tough times when things aren't really going our way.

The "List Your Wins In Life" self esteem activity is designed to get you to see that you are already successful and that you have had successes in the past, and because you have had successes in the past you will have successes again in the future even if you are going through a rough patch right now. Also remember that one of the key ingredients to getting through any bad patch in life is staying positive.

The "List Your Wins In Life" self esteem activity is really easy to do, all you have to do is list all the things you have already succeeded in (these are the things I refer to as "your wins in life") and place them into 4 different categories which I will show you in a minute.

Quick Note:

Just in case you are thinking to yourself "I haven't succeeded at anything" then you are probably thinking too hard and over looking important achievements you have had because they seem simple or not much of a big deal, those are exactly the kind of things you put on your list.

In case you are still struggling, Here are some things you might want to consider putting on your list.

I finished college

I learned to drive and got my license

I learned how to swim

I learned how to ride a bike

I helped a friend with that problem they had

I got a Job

These might seem like simple things, but what it shows is that you have had victories and successes in the past, you have had accomplishments and your life hasn't been a waste, you can be proud of yourself. You don't have to be a movie start or a sports star, or an American Idol or a wealthy business man with millions in the bank to be a success in life. The things you have already accomplished, the people you have helped and the good deeds you have done are things you should be proud of, and no matter how simple or insignificant they may seem to you, not everybody has achieved the things you have, not everyone can do the things you can do and have done, and that makes you very special and significant.

Okay, let's take this self esteem activity a little further. Remember the 4 different categories I was talking about earlier...

What I want you to do on a piece of paper is write the following categories (leave some space between each one)

* The first phase of my life (this can be anything you achieved from when you were born up until the age of 10 you can adjust the age bracket to depending on your current age)

* The second phase of my life (this can be anything you achieve from between the age of 10 to 25, again you can adjust the age bracket to depending on your current age)

* Recent success

* Successes I want to achieve in the next 5 years.

Here is the final stage of this self esteem activity:

For each phase make a list of 3 successes you have had in that phase of your life (for the "successes I want to achieve in the next 5 years", list 3 things you would like to achieve within the next 5 years.)

Here's an example of what your list should look like once you've finished.

The first phase of my life:

1. Finished primary school
2. Learnt how to walk and speak
3. Learnt how to play the drums

The second phase of my life:

1. Graduated from High school
2. Finished College
3. Made the college basketball team

Recent Successes:

1. Passed my driving test
2. Started my own small business
3. Passed my professional exams in project management

Successes I want to achieve in the next 5 years.

1. Financial freedom
2. Travel the world as a life coach
3. Get a PhD in theology

Moving forward

Hope you really took the time to complete this self esteem activity, I hope you are already feeling the benefit of doing this exercise, I hope it's already starting to make you feel better about yourself as you think and remember the wins you have already had in life.

Whenever life gets a little tough and things aren't going your way, go back to the list you just made, instead of sulking and complaining, reflect on the victories you have already had, relive those victories and allow them to put you into a more positive frame of mind.
